Trauma Readiness 1 (TR1)
Service Description
This is our flagship class. Students will be taught how to identify and assess a traumatic injury, or accident scene. Including proper steps to treat injuries, starting with; Massive blood loss. Patient airway. Patient breathing. Patient circulation. Instruction includes lecture, and aggressive hands-on practice. We are of the mind that you have to actually practice (as close as possible) the tasks you intend to use in an emergency. Otherwise, it is too easy to forget those skills when things go sideways. Hands-on practice will include; Tourniquets, both for adult and pediatric patients. Wound packing. How to make a pressure dressing. Manufactured pressure dressings. Patient positioning. Chest seals. Finding a pulse. We'll also teach you when, and how to call 911. Class is 5.5 hours.
